There are many different credit cards and providers on the market these days, with consumers able to choose from a range of credit card deals to suit their needs. However, some offer better value and service than others, and consumers are always on the lookout for those cards that can offer their both affordability and good service.

A recent customer satisfaction poll has been carried out into credit cards, and two credit cards have been voted the best by consumers taking part in the poll. The two credit cards are American Express and Marks & Spencer, which between them managed to win eight out of the eleven categories that were included in the survey. For the second consecutive year traditional banks did not even win in one single category.

The research was carried out by price comparison site and the results highlighted the best and worst providers for credit cards. The low levels of consumer satisfaction with banks were reflected in the results, with customers of Lloyds TSB, RBS, and Santander voting their banks the worst for customer service.

The card that came out on top was American Express, which was the card that was mostly likely to be recommended to friends. It was voted the best in terms of product information, application processes, and value for money, putting it at the top of the tables in the poll results. Right at the bottom of the league table in the results was Santander.

One official from uswitch commented on the results, and on how poorly the banks had done, stating: ‘Customer service is still letting the credit card companies down, especially amongst the high street banks, which provide some of the worst service in the market, despite some being government funded.’
